1. Pray
  2. Seek the Lord in Spirit and in Truth
  3. Follow His commands
  4. Thank the Lord even in my situation
  5. Do not sin in anger. Ponder it overnight and be silent.
  6. Offer proper sacrifices.
  7. Trust in the Lord

The LORD promises:

  1. He will answer when we call
  2. He is righteous
  3. He will give relief from distress
  4. He is merciful
  5. He will set apart the godly
  6. He is good
  7. He fills the heart with greater joy than material abundance
  8. He gives peace and security.

I’m in control of how I’m going to feel today. And today I will choose to trust in the Lord no matter how uncertain the future is going to be.

Thara

April 6, 2005

I met a visually handicapped lady today. She was auditioning at the station to take on an announcing job. Wait a min… did you say visually handicapped?

Oh and that’s not all.

She can’t read Braille because she was trained at a normal school before.
She can’t read print because she is partially blind.

How did she deliver her piece for the audition then?

She memorised it.

She recited a devotional piece about 1.5 mins long. Her voice was soothing, it was light and airy, great for an intimate night program. In my heart, I knew her voice could make it. And I also knew that God sent her to me .

As I looked at her tranquil face as she calmly recited it, it got me thinking. Only when distractions are taken away, can one meet God face to face.

I’ve been too busy to pray, too busy to memorise scripture. So busy that my mind’s a million miles away when I pray.

Korean Kindness

April 5, 2005

One thing about the Koreans I’ve learnt is that they give all they can give and if you just do a tiny good deed for them, they return the favour hundred fold.

CL and I decided to include kimchi for all the dinners during the Senai Conference for the 4 Koreans in Dr Kim’s contingent. From the stories we were told by Carlos, this guy wasn’t to be trifled with. Better serve him with extra care.

We did as much as we could for the conference but you would have by now been regaled with stories of our totally embarrassing screwups (if you didn’t, good). What we didn’t expect though, was that when we sent Dr. Kim off as he returned to Singapore, he suddenly offered to send us to Korea. Just like that. I didn’t believe it at first until the missions pastor got in touch with us 2 days later. Wow.

Now that I’ve returned from Korea, I’ve come to realise how important kimchi is to a Korean. It’s a staple at every meal. Even if you’re eating steak. Adding kimchi to the meals was a simple gesture and it multiplied our blessings in return!

Before Korea, the boss instructed us to return the US$400 that Dr. Kim would return him through us. (Apparently, Dr. kim took that sum on loan while he was in Singapore.) The boss wanted that sum donated to the Jeju transmitter instead. We didn’t get to speak to Dr. Kim directly, but we got the missions pastor to do it instead.

And now, in return for that donation, Dr. Kim is now sending my boss and his wifey England to attend the Baptist World Alliance Congress!

Like wow wow.

Dr. Kim is no pushover, but neither is he a diva. He just knows what he wants and he rewards fairly. Through the conference, we got to see the (true) godly side of this man and even though Carlos still calls his working style “military”, I say, we have been blessed by God to learn how to be a Christian through the life of Dr. Billy Kim.

AFK

A bit of a writer’s block.

The “highly anticipated” back log of work made its predictable impact on my sleeping pattern. Slept the whole weekend away.

Still having writer’s block up here. *twacks head* What’s wrong with me.

Photos are coming up soon. It’s writing the captions that are giving me a royal headache. Haha.

Catch you soon!

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

I need you, dear Lord.
